Rae Carter is a communication facilitator, culture builder, equity educator, and healing arts practitioner. She is the founder of EmpowR Transformation, working to cocreate cultural conditions of belonging, equity, and collective liberation. She has a 20-year career background in communications, public relations, grassroots campaign management, and social impact marketing across nonprofit organizations, government, educational institutions, and the private sector. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communication from Marist College.

Rae’s lived experience navigating and healing from a complicated health crisis shifted her path to embody and integrate an emergent and trauma responsive approach to transformative justice. A graduate of the Art of Navigating Change from Rockwood Leadership Institute, she is an active somatic abolitionist with Education for Racial Equity and a trained facilitator in The Circle Way. Rae weaves embodied approaches to antiracist culture building, experiential and nature-based learning, holistic healing, and animist spirituality into capacity building work to shift limited perspectives, disrupt dominant patterns, navigate conflict, reimagine communication, and bridge micro and macro behavior change.

Rae lives in Plainfield, Vermont and stewards Grandmother Cherry Sanctuary, offering community building educational programs and retreats to build new ways of being in relationship with ourselves, each other, and the Earth. She is also a community herbalist and loves to sing.
