Jolivette Anderson-Douoning opened the Vermont House Legislative Session on January 22, 2025, with a powerful devotional. She reflected on her family’s history of resilience through slavery, Jim Crow, and the Civil Rights Movement, which enabled her to pursue her education and earn a Ph.D. She also highlighted her daughter's diverse heritage and identities and reflected on the implications of this particular moment in history for her daughter and all children.
