Dr. Nadia DuBose Recognized as a 2022 Juneteenth Changemaker

Dr. Nadia DuBose, co-founder of The Creative Discourse Group, was honored as a 2022 Juneteenth Changemaker in recognition of her exemplary commitment to racial equity, inclusion, and belonging. Additional congratulations goes to TCDG associate Zoraya Hightower, as well as all of the awardees who are all deeply committed to working towards transformative change in Greater Burlington area communities.

The award was presented by the City of Burlington Racial Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (REIB) Committee at the Red, Black & Green Gala–a community celebration of Black Joy during Juneteenth 2022 celebrations. It’s been a long time coming for the City of Burlington to host an event that celebrates Blackness and the people and communities working toward Black Liberation.

In receiving her award, Nadia expressed much appreciation for all of the awardees, bringing attention to how many Black women were being recognized for their commitments to racial justice work. Nadia also called attention to the legacy of all of the people who came before her who have been sustaining racial justice work for years without recognition. One of these people includes Nadia’s mom, who attended and celebrated along with hundreds of people from Greater Burlington and Vermont BIPOC communities.
